Between Two Ferns : The Movie

Via Netflix

I'll be honest, I have been struggling with this review (you're welcome for being so candid). I only wanted to post reviews of movies I enjoyed and endorsed but this one falls somewhere between yes and please don't. So, here goes.

I am a huge fan of the Funny or Die videos of Between Two Ferns and waited impatiently for each to come out. I was similarly excited about the movie and made it through the first two thirds chuckling to myself. However, around the midway point I lost interest completely. It wasn't for lack of content, because there was plenty of that, but it just felt like I was binging the series, not watching a movie that could potentially bring new moments and laughs. Now don't get me wrong, there was "behind the scenes footage" which rounded out Zack Galifianakis' character and the story overall but, it didn't carry the plot line very far.

The cameo's are out of this world and every few seconds a new celebrity pops up and that was entertaining. But again, at a certain point it became a little repetitive and empty. Now, if I had a couple of glasses of wine or some cannibis handy maybe, just maybe, it would have been a little more enjoyable, but stone cold sober, it was tough to get through.

So, if you're kicking back with a glass or two, check this one out for fun. If you're looking for something to sink your teeth into, watch "Inside Bill's Brain" instead (highly recommended).

Phew.. glad I got through that...
